Ah, you've hit a stumbling block, friend. You're on a "Best of Both Worlds (RPPvP)" server that means you might have to make a Horde Guild that you're in for everyone to join in, or get a few people you know and add them into your guild.

This may be breaking Multiclan laws however, so tell your Guild EXACTLY what character you're doing before you get a bombshell of even worse proportions. Speak to your Clan Admin before making a horde Guild of a similar name.

Hope this helps

Hi guys- having only ever played guildwars for 2 hours (Played on my friend's account- it sucked imo, no offence) I'm not entirely sure how I got here, but in answer to your problem- horde and alliance in this game are at war with each other, you can't group with them, talk to them or guild with them. Also, if you are on a pvp realm you won't be able to have a horde and alliance character on the same server.

Also- to all the people in this thread newly starting out- good luck and have fun, my advice is to take it slow- it isn't a race to 60, try and see everything you can

just played for a few hours tonight and I've managed to make the ability to smelt Steel and to find, mine and smelt Mithril as well!

Also with BS at 121 I am getting well adept at my build's professions. Here's hoping I can get 150 to bs and 200 to mining before I hit four'tah!

For smithing do you buy the bars? Because I'm at 155 mining and only 90 smithing and smithing is taking a whole lot longer to lvl up.

the best way to up your BS and that is to buy EVERY unlockable when you get it every 5 skill points (90... 95 etc) and then to find the materials needed to smelt and craft to make the items. Armorire is the easiest to craft, while hammers and swords take the longest to find and uses more materials

I can now smelt steel and mithril and also make a few new bronzial items now I have expert smithing and mining I can hopefully make some good materials till 200 (Then I'll need to find some buggering scrolls of plans)

EDIT, you FIND the ores all over the world and mine them, then go into a strange-looking house that hase coalfires in (or the Great/Black forge) and you can instantly smelt items there for a fraction of what you pay (most are free anyway, except steel)

Default WoW is a past for me

Greetings!

I played WoW since open Euro Beta in 2004. I had lvl 60 and several lvl 40-50 characters, met ALL possible content in WoW, including last and hardest bosses at that moment (MC+BWL).

I regret time and money spent on this game, seriously.

I must admit its a top-level project, having its 5.5 mil of subscribers (like 2 mil in US + 1 mil in EU + rest in Asia) for some purpose.

Actually... playing MMORPGs since Ultima Online i found theese games tend to switch to fast action, and this is good. Having 10 min fun for 2 hours online was typical to UO (since it got loads of "content" which quickly turns to burden), in WoW an amount of fun per online time was much, much greater.

But... After you complete your leveling (usually in a couple of months, if you are not a kid / unemployed), you will find that next level of items turns PvP mostly out of balance. There is only a slim chance a person with simple gear with defeat another, that is clad in epic sets, regardless of class.

Such epic items require 40 people to effectively farm for, multi-hour repeatative runs in same dungeons, again and again, by schedule. If you stop playing for a couple of weeks, you loose your place in team, and will be left behind.

In PvP "arenas" there is a domination of same epic-laden teams, who just farm faction kill points. You stop attending this for 1-2 weeks - your PvP rank is ruined, and you must start it over.

I made my decidion already: WoW is, hands down, a good game, but it was made for kids, and people, who got LOTS of spare time. You must go online as you go to work, and if you cant - your character will bring you less and less enjoyment, since after 60 there is not much you can do, and if you play irregularily, you loose your access to top teams.

The power of WoW character is heavily dependent of TIME you spent in game, really. No skill needed - get your epic items in 40-men zerg (or not so plain zerg), and you can forget your skills - just wave your axe all around.

Last things i did in WoW - i logged on eventually to play in PvP battlegrounds in pickup or small teams. Was mostly enjoying, though it required a bit of farming for potions / armor repairs after fights.

When i first bought GW and entered random arenas, i realised, this is what i actually want. Most things that require stupid farming or wasting time running around, was removed here by design. Finally, i found paradise lost.

I play what i want, any time i want, and the way i want. And its really fun! No sucking stupid farmer will beat me only because (s)he spent 6 months zerging mobs, and playing a cookie-cutter class.

Conclusion: if you are a busy person, dont play WoW. Thats aint fun.

Whats a good Class for a started?

i dont want a Undead class.

how about Professions whats the easy ones to start with?

i was thinking Hunters, with Leather and Mining.

or Mage with Tailoring and Mining.

Is there any diff if i go with either a Gnomes, Dwarves or a Human?

i my self got bored of GW its ok the odd PvP but i need some PvE.

Thanks in advance for any advise.

Look at the classes/race racial effects, see which suit you more. the easier classes to play with (IMO) are war, pally, (rogue if u know what ur doin), hunters and maybe priest. mages arent too great and theyre weak right now unless ur at 60.

depending on the class for professions -
->war/pally - mining / blacksmithing (if you wanna benefit from your creations), herbalism+alchemy

->mages, warlocks, priests - tailoring, enchanting, herbalism+alchemy

->hunters, rogues - skinning/leatherworking, herbalism+alchemy

->druids, shammies -> not sure but probably a lot like rogues and hunters

i think thats it. any other profession i didnt say probably isnt worth talkin about (if any)

oh and btw, first aid, fishing and cooking are all proffessions u can have with your other 2 (<- 2 is the max u can have, with the exception of FA, cooking and fishing) first aid is a must have.

and for gnomes, dwarves or humans, i always pick humans because of their starting area but just look at the racial effects.

Ok, so I'm thinking of coming back to WoW for a little bit as I wait for the GW expansion, but I have a few questions...

I have a 53 NE rogue on windrunner, but why I left was because the grind from the 50's to 60 was killing me...Now that I've been away a long time, will it be worth it to get to 60? I'm not much of the social/guildy type so I won't be able to get any of the raid gear and all, does that really matter? If so, I think I'll just play my (I think 36 or 37, MAYBE 38 lol) balance horde druid on Icecrown, is the moonkin form any good, and how requested is druid for groups in later levels, as I remember getting no groups as my rogue was torture. I also have a 32 priest, but I'm not that much into him.

I hear ya playing4fun but I might almost suggest the reverse is possible too-

I could see being a rather regular player, getting to that PvP point, and just like EQ before it, being burnt out on raids and guild activities (I was an enchanter no less, yikes) where there's not so many things you can do anymore in reasonable timeframes. Certainly sounded like a bit of that was going on with the WoW forums, and what's up with all the queue wait times?

Meanwhile if I let my wife lose on WoW with its more idyllic look and feel, pets running around you etc she might enjoy a very casual pace for quite awhile to come - maybe so much so patches and expansions would come quick enough (and re-roll/multi-char certainly an option) it'd last her quite awhile. Just I'd be tempted to join her there as I did GW - right now dual setup is happily absent of $30/mo for us both to be in WoW.

Things to kick around.
Definately don't want to pay that entrance fee and monthly fee tho if then we get to wait for a stretch before we enjoy our evening gaming. Won't fly.

I've been doing the Elder quest recently and I managed to get through to SE SEARING GORGE, at Level 35, with help from a level 44! well I did die quite a few times, but if nothing is impossible, why knock it?

Hopefully I get a few more materials when I get enough exp and then blacksmith to 225

Dude if you can't come up with 15 dollars a month you must be lazy, because I can mow a lawn for that. Besides how many updates does guildwars get that adds *new content* compare that to WoW and it pails in comparison. I still play guildwars because it is something that doesn't control your time as WoW does. But 15 dollars a month is nothing to cry over.

I expected this post! ALWAYS, someone says, "If you cant afford it...", as if I said that I couldnt come up with $15/month. I didnt say that, and its a matter of principle to me. I did the 2 week demos for Anarchy Online(last year), as well as the first SWG trial(the good one), and City of Heroes earlier this year. Gave them all up after, though I liked them all VERY much, because the subscription sucks. There isnt any game, no matter how much I like it, that I would be willing to pay for every month. Besides, if you play more than 1(assuming its YOUR(player's)money, not "mom and/or dad's", Heres a "Top Ten List" http://www.gameogre.com/topmmorpgs.htm . Now, Ill assume a average of $8/month. If you only play 3 of them, that adds up to $288/year, and $576 for an year of actual playtime. Id MUCH rather spend that money on PC upgrades, buying other PC games, ect. A better use, imo.
I remember when you used to pay just for the hours you were logged in, then someone figured out that people would be willing(sadly) to pay for a month, and play, thinking it was better that way. I was against monthly subscriptions then, and still feel the same, people made a tragic mistake in accepting it.
